Ozuna replaces Velasquez

Ozuna exercised her prerogative yesterday; her office has already identified a candidate to replace him on the board, which recommends local arts funding to the Council and makes related policy decisions.

Ozuna said her decision wasn't motivated solely by Velasquez's campaign against the RFP process, but that she does want folks who represent District 3 on local boards and agencies to work collaboratively and understand the bigger picture at their respective organizations.

"When they have no understanding, or purposely misconstrue ... I can't see that we're in alignment," she said. "Mr. Velasquez, I'm sure he has the very best interests at heart … but he has a very confrontational tone."
