As the usual suspects disappeared and reappeared newly aglitter, the recent recipient of a prestigious international fellowship decided to make snow angels in a Shirley Shor sandbox sculpture.
Caterers and bartenders waited on the crowd, which dispersed and coalesced as the guest of honor circulated. It took a few minutes for the shouting to float over the happy chatter to the guests in the kitchen.
