The price of local culture ticked up a notch last week when the Witte Museum got approval from Council for a small hike in its ticket price, and Blue Star instituted the first admission fee in its 25-year history. Maybe that should be news in SA, where the median income runs $43,000 – almost $10,000 less than the national benchmark – and more than 18 percent of our residents live below the poverty level. Then again, I haven’t noticed Starbucks or the soft-drinks aisle at H-E-B Plus going out of business.
