Warhol for the FaceTube age

For anyone who isn’t satisfied by the dollar store’s shrine of pastel bunnies and marshmallow everything, Andy Warhol: Fame and Misfortune has much to offer for this year’s Easter season. Devotion, iconography, the resurrection of celebrity, and that metaphysical alarm that comes with the juxtaposition of so many bright and clashing colors, similar to those worn by your great aunt who still clings to hot pink as if it might bring back the son she lost to “that Spanish vixen.”

While Warhol and the wayward son may be lost forever, the pink lives on. And this past Saturday at the McNay Art Museum I discovered just how much of it remains with us.
