The reason some of us graciously put up with Super Bowl weekend is finally here. The Oscars are upon us and for best actress I'm absolutely torn between Michelle Williams in Blue Valentine and Jennifer Lawrence in Winter's Bone. It's like King Solomon and those two babies. In the best-actor category, all bets are on Colin Firth for The King's Speech. I hope the Virgin Mary has been getting my emails.
This week, I made a date with Carolyn Kelley at Luther's Cafe on North Main to chat about her own exciting race to glory.
Kelley, dressed in a smart black ensemble and dark sunglasses, is running for the District 1 Council seat. Her powerful presence alone may make her opponents a little nervous. She's stately, attractive, has a daring sense of humor and a well-publicized reputation for gathering the resources to get things done. She's also a diva fundraiser. My eyes are fixed on those Ann Taylor shoes. Totally Oscar-worthy.
