San Antonio is preparing to enter a new era in transit as VIA completes a Bus Rapid Transit line between downtown and the Medical Center. VIA has touted the line as the first piece of a next-generation system that mixes BRT, light rail, and modern streetcars. But VIA’s version of BRT is likely to fall well short of the technology’s potential, as might be expected considering the organization’s paltry funding.
